The Feast of The Annunciation of the Lord, Notre Dame's beloved Sister Catherine McLenaghan ODN passed away. After much recent suffering may she now rest in peace, such an amazing and selfless person! "Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word" (Luke 1:26-38).
What must it have been like for Mary to hear this message from the angel - suddenly to be told of the important part she was to play in God's plan? Catherine was an inspiration and a quiet source of strength, wisdom, and support for so many in the School Community and she will be greatly missed because she touched all she met. For many years she was a key presence in the school and in the leadership of the Sisters in England. She was a wise, perceptive, and very good woman, adored by all.
Many people have lovely memories of her because so many times her smile and kind words brought light to their days. Catherine was a genuinely and truly special person that had time for everyone.
The scripture tells us Mary was at first perplexed, and that she asked how all of this could happen, yet ultimately she accepted what God asked of her with great serenity.
A sad loss but Catherine will be in a special place watching over the School Community and the Sisters. God Bless all who loved her at this time!
